Would and Should both are auxiliary verbs that follows a main verb and cannot be the main verb alone . but the usage of both would and should is quite confusing and at times , a mistake is obvious when using would at place of should , and vice-versa .

Would is the past form of auxiliary verb Will . | Should is the past form of the auxiliary verb shall . |
It indicates an action in past that happened repeatedly or commonly . Eg : He would go everyday | It indicates an action that is likely . Eg : They should be finished by now. |
It is used to express preference , wish or desire , possibility , routine or habitual things . | It is used to express suggestion or opinion , something expected or correct . |
Eg :Normally we would work on Sundays. .......(habitual/routine) | Eg: You should take rest . ........(suggestion) |
Eg: I would like to travel in car . ........(desire) | Eg: There should be the diamond . ............(expectation) |
